Daniel Corkrean ‘93
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Daniel E. Corkrean, age 49, who died peacefully at his home on January 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was born in Columbus on May 5, 1975, to Patrick and Frances (Boesch) Corkrean.
In addition to his parents, Dan is survived by his beloved wife Laura (Baker) Corkrean, and their two sons, Ryan (Julia) and Shawn Corkrean. He is also survived by his siblings, Karen (Eric) Cowan, Kevin (Sharon) Corkrean, and Kathy (Jim) Hupp, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Dan took pride in his home and cabin, especially his lawn, and outdoor spaces. A passionate supporter of his sons, Daniel was deeply involved in their lives and coached them in multiple sports, and he loved watching them play as he cheered them on from the sidelines. An avid outdoorsman, Dan’s “happy place” was his cabin, a beautiful retreat he transformed into something extraordinary. He found joy in fishing and visiting his cabin in southern Ohio, where he could often be found enjoying nature’s beauty. He was also a fan of Michigan sports and loved attending festivals, concerts, and bowling at his local alley. Daniel was a regular presence manning the grill, telling jokes, cooking up meals for those he loved, and enjoyed a good bourbon with friends and family at his favorite spot, the one of a kind "Black Oak." Dan had a connection to music, with a particular fondness for the sounds of Tom Petty, Rush, Roger Waters, Allman Brothers and more recently, Watch House, Chris Stapleton, and Green Sky Blue Grass. His ability to make others laugh, his kindness, and his devotion to his family will forever be remembered.
