Deborah (Scherler) Diehl ‘70

Deborah Sue Diehl, 73, of Columbus, passed away on March 5, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. A lifelong resident of Columbus, she was born to the late Joseph A. and Roberta M. Scherler on February 15, 1952.

Debbie will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Dave; their daughter, Emily Loughley (Bobby); her precious granddaughters, Amelia and Lucy; and her siblings: Marianne Thompson (Bill), Joe Scherler (Cherie) , and Robin Winkel (Phil). She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Bill Thompson.

Debbie was a vibrant, outgoing woman whose spirit lit up every room she entered. Known for her love of singing and her infectious smile, she had a remarkable ability to bring joy to everyone she met. She was often the center of attention and cherished her role in making others feel special. A beloved “Queen” to her many friends, she will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the endless love she gave to her family and friends.

For over 30 years, Debbie devoted herself to caring for children in the community as a daycare provider. She had the honor of nurturing and loving many children as her own, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Debbie’s heart also held a special place for animals, as she loved them dearly.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, and countless friends whose lives she touched with her genuine heart and uplifting presence.
