Elizabeth (Tankovich) O'Rourke ‘64

Elizabeth Ann O’Rourke, age 78, of Delaware, Ohio passed away on Easter, March 31, 2024. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 16, 1946, to the late John Joseph Tankovich and Marie Edith (Kauderer) Tankovich.

Elizabeth was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware. Her faith and her family were everything to her. Elizabeth taught the second-grade class at St. Anthony Parish School in Columbus, Ohio from 1977 – 2002. She enjoyed educating the students with her own creative style. Mrs. O’Rourke will be remembered fondly by her students, fellow faculty members, family, friends, and parishioners. She is loved and will be forever missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jennifer (Jerry) Walraven of Delaware, Ohio, Joseph (Linda) O’Rourke of Delaware, Ohio and Anna (Randy) Helpman of Fredericktown, Ohio; grandchildren, Rosey (Sam) Ebeling, Olivia O’Rourke, Greta Walraven and Colin O’Rourke; brothers, John (Paula) Tankovich, Steve Tankovich, Jerry (Karen) Tankovich, and George (Cherryl) Tankovich; sister, Cecilia (Mike) Longenbaker and sister-in-law, Marie Tankovich; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Tankovich; siblings, Anthony, Mary, and David Tankovich; sister-in-law, Betty Tankovich.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015 with a vigil prayer service at 6:30 p.m., Deacon Felix Azzola presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William Street, Delaware, Ohio 43015, Father Brett Garland officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
