Lori passed away at her home, with the love of her family by her side, on Friday, March 15, 2024, following a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). She was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 22, 1960, to the late Charles and Marie (Susi) Fisher.
A 1978 graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School, Lori received her B.S. in Elementary Education, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Ohio Dominican University in 1982. She married Dale Arnold in 1982 and they resided in Columbus, relocating to Newark in 1985.
Lori was recognized for over three decades of service as an elementary teacher in the Columbus Catholic Diocesan Schools. She was a faculty member at St. Philip the Apostle School, Columbus; served a major portion of her career at St. Francis de Sales School, Newark, and finished her career at St. Matthew’s School in Gahanna. Lori was professionally active in curriculum development and school certification programs. She was involved as a parent volunteer, helping with fundraising and athletic booster activities when her children were active in elementary and junior high programs, as well as involved with Newark Catholic High School.
Lori will be remembered for her dedication as a teacher, mother and grandmother. Many parents, former students and fellow teachers recall her kindness, sense of humor and undying enthusiasm. One of her greatest challenges was battling the effects of FTD. Truly, Lori has “earned her wings” as a new angel.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Dale; three children and six grandchildren: Mallory and Christopher Grieb with Augustine, Beatrice, Ignatius and Cecilia; Mac Arnold-Bickel and JD Bickel, as well as Madison and Carrie Arnold with Luca and Giuliana; sister, Susan Metheney of Delaware, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Brenda Fisher of Columbus, Ohio; nieces, Andrea (James) Sharrock and Melissa Magee, great nieces and a great nephew.
In addition to her parents, Lori was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willis and Erma Susi of Columbus, Ohio; and sister, Mary Katherine Fisher.
Calling hours will be held at the Reed Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark Ohio, 4-7 P.M., Tuesday, March 19, 2024, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Licking County Aging Partners (Aging Program), Hospice of Central Ohio, or Newark Catholic High School.
