Steven Smith ‘72

Steven C. Smith, 65, passed away on September 21, 2023. He was born in Columbus, OH on October 3, 1957 to Herman and Mary Smith. After graduating from Federal Hocking High School in 1975, Steven worked 35 years of dedicated service for the Columbus Division of Police with 22 years as a Community Liaison Officer before retiring in 2021. He married his wife, Melissa (Wishon) in 1999 and shared many beautiful years together.

Away from work, Steven loved spending time with his family, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Dallas Cowboys, taking care of things around the home and helping others.

Steven is preceded in death by his Father, Herman Cecil Smith, and his Mother, Mary Agnes (Defibaugh) Smith.

Steven is survived by his wife, Melissa; his daughters, Kaitlyn Smith, and Jennifer (Scott) Shaken; his son, Jacob (Lori) Smith; his Grandchildren, Daniel and Ethan Shaken, and Landon Keirns; his Brothers, Ron (Peggy) Smith, and Tom (Vickie) Smith; his Sister, Tara (Ron) Riley; and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
