William Thompson II ‘65

William “Bill” Thompson II, 76, of Columbus, passed away on July 29, 2023. He was born on July 25, 1947, in Columbus, to the late John and Marian (Norris) Thompson. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Melanie and Jim Thompson.

Bill graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School and The Ohio State University. He obtained the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation early in his career. He retired from Nationwide Insurance after 40+ years of employment.

He loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, the outdoors, camping, animals, astronomy, history, the Buckeyes, camping in Michigan, and relaxing on a beach. He took immense pride in being a grandfather. Most of all he was devoted to his wife of 55 years, Marianne.

Bill will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Marianne Thompson; children, Bill (Mandy) Thompson III and Nikki Pellegrini; grandchildren, Isabella and Luciano Pellegrini, Liam Thompson, and Jackson Drake; siblings, Paul (Jackie) Thompson and Denice Thompson; In-laws, Joe (Cherie) Scherler, Debbie (Dave) Diehl, and Robin (Phil) Winkel; and numerous extended family and close family friends.
